Installation Documentary | From “Running 50 Kilometers” to “Walking 10 Minutes”! Tang County’s MRI Makes Early Screening No Longer Require Traveling Across Towns

2025-12-15

A domestically produced, conventional-gradient MRI machine has been installed in Tang County, where it unexpectedly detected early-stage lesions among villagers! This heartwarming story, unfolding in a grassroots hospital, not only highlights the strength of China’s medical technology but also brings the health promise of “early screening and early treatment” to life in rural communities.

A domestically produced, conventional-magnetic-resonance imaging system has been installed in Tang County, where it unexpectedly detected early-stage lesions among villagers! This heartwarming story, unfolding in a grassroots hospital, not only highlights the strength of China’s homegrown medical technology but also brings the health promise of “early screening and early treatment” to life in rural communities.

Heartwarming Interlude Volunteers Become Patients: Early Screening Helps Reclaim the Golden Window for Treatment

On December 11, technical staff from Zhongke Huirun visited Dingkang Hospital in Tang County to conduct professional training. During the testing phase, Ms. Zhang, a villager who was feeling unwell, volunteered to participate.

Technical staff from Zhongke Huirun worked closely with medical personnel from Dingkang Hospital to conduct a comprehensive examination of Grandma Zhang according to standardized procedures. Following careful assessment and professional judgment by the medical team, Grandma Zhang was preliminarily screened as having a suspected brain mass.

Upon learning the screening results, the on-site staff immediately informed Ms. Zhang and her family about the situation. At the same time, they promptly contacted the higher-level hospital, provided a detailed account of the patient’s condition, and assisted in coordinating the subsequent referral and treatment arrangements. Currently, Ms. Zhang has successfully been transferred to the higher-level hospital for further diagnosis and treatment, laying a solid foundation for controlling her condition and facilitating her recovery.

This little episode not only confirms that domestically produced MRIs can match the imaging quality of high-end equipment, but also hits right at the pain point of grassroots healthcare: globally, 70% of people struggle to access advanced imaging services. The challenges of “long distances to medical care and a lack of equipment” have caused countless patients to miss the golden window for early screening. Now, with the arrival of this MRI scanner, turning “early detection and early treatment” from a mere slogan into a tangible reality at the grassroots level is finally within reach.

30-day landing Let the people have it right at their doorstep. Check out “Precision MRI”

As a key primary-level medical institution in Tang County, Dingkang Hospital has long been hampered by the mismatch between strong patient demand and a shortage of high-end equipment. Previously, to undergo an MRI scan, residents had to travel dozens of kilometers into the city center—time-consuming, labor-intensive, and potentially delaying diagnosis and treatment. “Many elderly patients have difficulty walking, and the round trip can take half a day or more. Some simply give up on getting checked altogether,” said the hospital’s director frankly.

The turning point began with Zhongke Huiren’s conventional MRI—affordable in price, low in power consumption, capable of operating even during power outages, and requiring virtually zero maintenance, making it the perfect fit for grassroots operations. From initial contact and on-site inspections to signing the contract, the entire process took just 20 days. The technical team came to the site to tailor a customized solution, worked overtime to complete installation and debugging, and provided hands-on training covering every step of operation, interpretation, and maintenance. In just 30 days, the domestically produced MRI was officially put into service, enabling residents of Tang County to enjoy MRI imaging quality comparable to that of major hospitals—all from the comfort of their own homes.

Inclusive at the grassroots level Domestic MRI Takes on the Heavy Responsibility of Strengthening the Foundation for a Healthy China.

The installation of an MRI scanner represents not only the heartfelt hope for health among millions of grassroots patients, but also a vivid embodiment of the “prevention-first” strategy under the Healthy China Initiative’s “15th Five-Year Plan” to strengthen the foundation of our healthcare system. Today, tiered diagnosis and treatment and the substitution of imported medical equipment with domestically produced alternatives have become central pillars of healthcare reform. Zhongke Huiren has consistently upheld its original aspiration—to make MRI accessible to all and reduce the incidence of serious illnesses—using technological innovation to break down barriers of geography and cost.

It requires no liquid helium and costs only 50,000 yuan per year in electricity bills, making it affordable and sustainable for grassroots hospitals. Equipped with AI-powered technology uniquely developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it enables grassroots doctors to use it effectively and make accurate diagnoses, truly bridging the “last mile” in bringing high-end medical services down to the grassroots level.

Today, an increasing number of patients in Tang County are able to undergo early disease screening thanks to this MRI scanner, eliminating the need for them to travel extensively for examinations. This is just the beginning. In the future, Zhongke Huiren will continue to leverage domestically produced medical technology as a cornerstone, bringing more cost-effective MRI equipment to county-level and township communities, ensuring that “early screening and early treatment” reach even more rural areas. This will help consolidate the achievements made in poverty alleviation, prevent people from falling back into poverty due to illness, and firmly establish a robust grassroots foundation for Healthy China.

As domestically produced MRIs reach more and more corners of the country, and as 70% of the population that remains underserved finally gains access to high-end medical care, this is precisely the warmth and strength of China’s medical technology!
